EKO, The journey in the post-hierarchical religion world continues. I admire your honesty when addressing the "hard sayings." As I tried to navigate these waters in 2011, I still found an uneasiness in my spirit. The ekklesia (an informal gathering) seemed to be Jesus' intended way; however, any attempts to gather the post-church believers met with the same issues, some had to lead, others followed. Inevitably, orthodoxy came up, then sides were picked.
The truth is, in the inner sanctum of individuals, no group is allowed. There is no herd. The truth is, whosoever will let him come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. He who seeks will find. This is where the power resides, in the Divine bedchamber. Deep speaks to deep. The formation of these bonds is eternal. I see this dynamic when Jesus meets the Woman at the well and the Roman centurion; the message was to all who would accept it. So it is today. Religion seems to have done a great disservice in the way it programmed people in so many unhealthy ways. Escaping that programming appears to be part of the necessary undoing, the beginning of arriving at the simple truths our hearts long for today. Today, my heart is satisfied with many of the actions and sayings of Jesus that my heart identifies with, that my heart: amens." With this simple premise, I feel my own consciousness rising. Divine love is rising, for myself and the people I encounter along the path. I am no longer a biblicalist. There are treasures buried in those pages, and there is immense error buried with those pages. Let your heart instruct your mind to learn to discern what is what.
CO, I totally agree with you when you say "in the inner sanctum of individuals, no group is allowed", yet we must also consider the group and where it fits in life overall.
The nuclear family is the backbone of everything that sustains man's built up civilisation. Family is the beginning of the group and it keeps expanding outward from there to the community, nations, continents and ultimately the entire global collective. That's why religion is important and necessary, and religion is only an outward group dynamic.
The inner sanctum of individuals is not the home of religion. It is the home of soul growth (cultivated through outward service to fellow man), and also of spiritual growth (cultivated through the inner quest to "know thyself").
I totally agree with everything being said about the persistent problems of institutional religion (EKO is doing a brilliant job of exposing that in a sensible way), and it is imperative that we now deal with that toxic mess, but we must also be careful not to throw out the baby with the bath water. Yes we must stop bathing ourselves in the dirty water of religious institutions, but in doing so we must not abandon the need for outward cleanliness. The solution is not to stop taking baths, that is merely another form of fanaticism. The real solution is to change the dirty water for clean water and clean up our group religion.
To do that we need to tap into the flowing river of pure cleansing water, that eternal source of life giving water that flows through the temple of living people.
Each one of us individually are a living temple, yet groups of us are also collective temples of living intentions, inspired motivations, collaborative exploration of the way forward into Light and Life. Only the group can supply the teamwork application of wisdom and brotherhood to make the shared vision reality.
8 billion individuals do not make a civilisation. Our civilisation is made up of many groups all adding up to an 8 billion strong collective.
We must not throw out religion because one aspect of it has gotten dirty, even toxic. That would be very unwise, because we would be completely abandonning one of the cornerstones needed to uphold a vast civilisation that now spans the planet. What is required from all of us going forward is to begin working collectively, with the vision that Jesus provided through his superior way of living, and for each one of us to pick up a proverbial mop, rag and bucket full of soapy water, put on our rubber gloves and work clothes, and do our small part in cleaning the mess that we have unfortunately inherited.
A stable and durable civilisation requires several cornerstones or pillars to sustain it, and these pillars are:
Economy/Finance
Culture
Language/Education
Family
Religion
Governance
Science/Technology
Race/Biology
Personal Growth
Ethics
If we remove the pillar of religion, then our entire civilisation will become unstable and could collapse. The need to congregate and worship collectively is built into our very DNA. Clean religion helps prevent science and technology from getting out of control, it keeps government from overstepping its boundaries, it creates a safe haven for personal growth, it infuses ethics with the correct focus, it prevents education from becoming a tool for greedy corporate interests, it promotes healthy and fair culture, and it teaches people how to be responsible which is an essential ingredient of strong economies and stable financial systems.
We have a huge problem with our current religions, and it must be fixed not discarded, because all the other pillars depend on it being strong and in place.
MA11, I understand your point. I am not anti-Christianity per se. Religions are man-made. Humans are trying to connect with the Divine through structures and organizations. What it truly comes down to is the open heart of each individual. After Charlie Kirk's assassination, it was a joy to see so many young people going to Church and exploring the Christian faith. I was one of those people in the early 70s. I saw all of the same issues then as we see today. They are inherent in attempts to structure spirituality within hierarchical frameworks. Are they better off than they might otherwise be? Probably. Now to my point. There are higher and better ways to connect with God that are natural, organic, and in line with general spirituality and sound mental health.. We are beginning to see a convergence of knowledge that fits all aspects of the human experience into a cohesive way of being. Quantum Physics, Conscious living, Some Eastern knowledge, many of the actions and sayings of Jesus, the study of NDEs, and spiritual thinkers like Carl Jung. This coming together is holistic. The pieces fit!
CO I totally agree with you. I wasn't trying to contradict anything you said. Just trying to expand on it somewhat. Holistic is a word I really like. Another one that I'm really starting to like is synthesis - the best of everything converging together to make something new and superior to anything we ever had before. I bellieve we are now at that critical point where this synthesis can happen if enough of us are willing to co-create it together.
I needed you right at this moment of the past, present and future. Living it, and loving your enemies. No justice sought. Jesus will take care of everything, leave it to him. Love to you, EKO.
I want to take a moment and give a tip o' the hat to all who come here and read EKOs outstanding work in service to mankind, and especially to those of you actively participating in these commenting sessions. I wish I knew you all in person. EKOs comment sections have become my favorite hangout on the internet this year. I check here regularly, looking for insights, wisdom, and kindred spirits, and I find all of it. I love rubbing digital shouders with all of you. Let's keep the momentum and collaboration going, and let's keep on giving EKO reason and inspiration to keep going. This is the closest thing to a true church I have experienced online so far. I wish you all a great weekend!!
Aloha! Beautifully written and gratefully received. ✌️❤️🙏
I would add one fundamental element; anointing. Literal anointing.
I believe anointing is a literal thing. Anoint your crown with holy oil and hear the angels sing!
Or something.
Why was anointing such an important and required thing? The “most sacred part” of the coronation?
When done correctly with the proper recipe and sincere prayer it’s the key to homeostasis and next level awakening from those who created us Homo sapiens.
Absolutely amazing writer🙌🏻🙏🏻✨️
This was beautiful.

Feeling it. Thank-you.
Will someone tell me what to do if I am Christian but my husband renounced his faith?

Nailed it!
Do we forgive all evil, or just those that are possessed by evil?
How about weaving the concept of evil into the idea of forgiving all evil acts?!
Did I miss the release of all 10 chapters as a PDF?
I’m editing and formatting :)
You’ll get it as soon as it Drops!
I kind of just fumble around in Substack and don’t navigate all of its parameters.
