I was so intrigued about the woman you mentioned at the end of your excellent essay on C S Lewis…And here she is! I know her works! In the early 2000s I bought The Artist’s Way…and for many months, every morning first thing, I did “the morning pages”!
Often it just seemed like therapy for me. But I liked it. I had a friend in those days who wanted to write a novel, and we did morning pages together.
Dear EKO, she didn't originate this..there is a book maybe written in the 30ies..it's name I'd GOD Calling..about 2 elder ladies who do the same. Sit, be still and let GOD, the Great I AM, speak to them. I was first introduced to this book 22yrs ago. I have given many away. This is real. This is true. GOD does speak to any and everyone who is receptive and sincerely wants to listen. GOD gave us instructions on how each of us needs to live for HIM to heal our lands. Each individual has the ability to help bring HIS healing. YESHUA split the curtain separating us from HIS FATHER, the Great I AM. By HIS sacrifice not only did HE pay the death penalty for sin but by HIS name we have direct access to the FATHER. HE and HE alone is our intercessor.
God Calling is a beautiful book. Cameron didn't invent the practice. She packaged it in a way that reached millions of people who would never have picked it up.
Thanks Eko!!! I also walked/am walking the 12-step path, and when I had the promised "spiritual awakening," I didn't understand what was happening. My toxic religious upbringing didn't prepare me at all for what I discovered. The God I was taught (vengeful and shaming) had no relation to the God I discovered; and have been trying to extract the actual "teachings of Jesus," from the theological poisonous pedagogy ever since. Back when I first started this walk, there weren't authors, like yourself, who had seen the Truth.

People in rooms. Sharing bread. Telling each other what happened to them. Practicing a way of living that made them more alive. No hierarchy to speak of.”
This is an interpretation and expression of what is thought she believes. This is something she reflected on to get well and to live within Gods’ mercy.
What actually exists in Catholicism is a lineage that has stood the test of time and dates back to Jesus who started the Catholic Church. Jesus started the Catholic Church and no other framework can definitively say this . Peter is the “rock “through which the church was built. This structure provides a place for us to come home and worship, while living what the Gospel (the Good News ) teaches and reflects back on the Old Testament as well; the one Jesus Christ fulfilled. We can only know this if we look deeply , open our hearts to the Lord and give up our own notions and opinions.
Humans share Gods’ divine love because we are to share the Body of Christ through an act of free will. We receive Him weekly through the Eucharist if we choose to receive Him.
So she is a "Catholic" who doesn't need an "operator" to dial in to God? Catholics need priests to access God. Confession to a priest, the intermediary, and acceptance of the "fact" that the vast government of the Vatican and the Pope as the head of the Catholic Church has ultimate legitimacy. I'd say, lapsed Catholic, just unable to let go of the idea that Catholicism is the "one true church".

So why even mention that she is Catholic? It definitely doesn't do anything to enhance her obvious personal accomplishments.
